Please read through the below PTE score Guide to understand how PTE marks distribution works:

PTE Score Guide

Read Aloud: (Speaking +Reading)

Unlike IELTS, in PTE, you can easily get the perfect 90 scores in all the sections even if you do not score well in one particular area. It is by focusing on some questions which have more weightage, you can not only enhance your scores in that area but in the other section too.

For example, this question comes under the speaking section but gives a lot of marks towards the reading section. It means that one can easily boost their scores in reading, even their reading is not that good.

There are some other questions too, by focusing on them one can easily analyse their weak areas and get good bands in PTE. For instance, the list below shows a list of some questions types that have an integrated score breakdown.

Repeat Sentence: (Speaking+ Listening)

This is a question that comes under the Speaking section, but this one is more important for your listening scores. Without performing well in this particular question, it is highly unlikely to get your required score in listening. As sometimes it is very difficult to reach your target in each module so understanding of the breakdown of scores is of paramount importance.

Retell Lecture: (Speaking +Listening)

This one comes under the Speaking module too and is very important for ones Listening. This task has more weightage than the Repeat Sentences towards your Listening section. Approximately 40 % marks one can ensure towards their listening section. As the questions under the listening section are highly unpredictable, so one can work on these questions and ensure there scores towards listening.

Summarize Written Text: (Writing+Reading)

As the name suggests this question comes under the writing section in PTE and it gives a lot of marks for ones Reading. Roughly 40 % plus for the Reading section. Hence, it is apparent how one can take advantage of this integrated breakdown system in PTE.

When it comes to getting higher scores in PTE, it is very significant to know the areas which have more weightage and then to work on those accordingly. To get good marks in writing, it has the same criteria as grammar, pronunciations, writing structures, and spellings.

Write From Dictation: (Listening+Writing)

This question appears in Reading section and leads to good marks for ones writing as well. Its obvious that one can increase their marks towards writing by practicing this question from Reading. So in PTE it is very important to figure out that questions with integrated breakdown scheme and focus on them to ensure the target scores of 6,7 and 8 in each easily.

Fill in the Blanks( Drop Down):  Reading+ Writing

This question appears in the Reading section and leads to good marks for one’s writing as well. It is obvious that one can increase their marks towards writing by practicing this question from Reading. So in PTE it is very important to figure out that questions with integrated breakdown scheme and focus on them to ensure the target scores of 6,7 and 8 in each easily.

Fill in the Blanks: ( Listening+ Writing)

This is a question from the listening module and it gives marks for writing too. Every word counts in this particular question type as it will not only enhance our listening scores, but also the writing scores.

There are other factors that matters in this question, for instance, the spellings are very important if you got the word right and its spellings are incorrect, unfortunately, you will not be able to get the marks. In the same way accuracy of words are also very considerable as if you will be doing minor mistakes you will not get marks for those works.

For example, if any word was singular, you get the word right but puts on the end you will not get any marks. So in this question along with the spellings, accuracy is also of paramount significance.

These are the examples of some major questions that have a lot of marks, in other words, one cannot get their required PTE exam scores without focusing on these questions. Apart from these, there are some other tasks too which have an integrated marking scheme but their weightage is less than these tasks.
